Brainstorm Media has nabbed the U.S. rights to the comedy I’ll Be Right There, which reteams Edie Falco with Nurse Jackie helmer Brendan Walsh.
The indie also stars Jeannie Berlin, Charlie Tahan, Kayli Carter, Michael Rapaport, Michael Beach, Sepideh Moafi and Bradley Whitford. Brainstorm Media plans a fall 2024 theatrical release.
I’ll Be Right There, based on a script by Jim Beggarly, has Falco playing Wanda, who has to juggle her pregnant daughter’s wedding plans, her mother’s health concerns, a wayward son and her own romantic dilemmas. As she navigates those challenges, Wanda discovers taking care of everyone leaves little time for herself, even if she has little idea what she’d do if not tending to the needs of others.
“We are delighted to bring this funny and relatable film to audiences nationwide. Edie Falco leads a terrific ensemble cast who deliver performances that will both make you laugh and warm your heart,” Michelle Shwarzstein, CEO of Brainstorm Media, said in a statement on Tuesday.
I’ll Be Right There was produced by Peter Block, Cory Neal, Bradley Ross, Walsh, Ross Meyerson, and co-produced by Samantha Cocozza. Falco shared the executive producer credits with Jesse Eisenberg, who developed the script with Beggarly.
The film is a production of Open Swim, Tiny Castle Films and A Bigger Boat and was financed by City Boy Hands. Universal Pictures International is distributing the film outside North America.
Director Walsh in his own statement praised his latest collaboration with Falco: “Working with Edie has always been such a pleasure and it was such an honor to direct this project and partner with her again. She was the first to set and the last to leave, and all cast, crew and producers were inspired by her energy and creativity.”
The distribution deal was negotiated by Block and Neal of A Bigger Boat Productions and Alex Peters of Brainstorm Media.
