‘The Roaring Game’ Starring Mickey Rourke And Rob Gronkowski Lands North American Distribution Via Brainstorm Media

EXCLUSIVE: The Roaring Game, starring Mickey Rourke and Rob Gronkowski, has been picked up for North American distribution by Brainstorm Media. The film has been set for release in February 2026.

Directed and written by Tom DeNucci (Vault), The Roaring Game chronicles the journey of Ricky, a high school custodian who loses everything when his girlfriend is selected to play hockey for Team USA and compete in the World Games. Determined to win her back, he assembles a misfit curling team, leveraging his janitorial skills to compete for gold. With humor, drama, and unlikely heroes, Rickey’s quest for redemption captivates the nation.

The cast is led by Darin Brooks (Blue Mountain State), Oscar Nominee Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler), Justin Chatwin (Shameless), Fivel Stewart (The Recruit), Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Pie), William Forsythe (The Devil’s Rejects), Antwon Tanner (Coach Carter), Vanessa Angel (Kingpin), Paul Johansson (One Tree Hill), Eric Lutes (Caroline in the City), Brett Azar (Young Rock), Jonathan Stoddard (Crossroad Spring), Rob Goon (A Day to Die) and former New England Patriots tight end Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski.

Chad A. Verdi (The Irishman, Bleed for This) produced, along with Michelle Verdi, Chad Verdi Jr., Paul Luba, and Anthony Gudas. Sera Verdi served as an Executive Producer.

The deal was negotiated by Chad A. Verdi of Verdi Productions and Michelle Shwarzstein & Alex Peters of Brainstorm Media.

“This film is a true throwback to the comedies of the ’90s and early 2000s, which there has been a vocal demand for among audiences,” Chad A. Verdi, President of Verdi Productions, said in a statement.  “Brainstorm appreciates this underdog story and the comedy at the heart of the narrative. Their commitment to a February 2026 release, timed to coincide with the Winter Olympics, showed us that they understood the cultural moment we were aiming for.”

Brainstorm Media CEO Michelle Shwarzstein added, “The Roaring Game is a fun twist on the classic underdog story. We’re excited to be working with Verdi Productions on another great film, bringing it to audiences in time for the winter Olympics.”
